WOW! What an exciting week! We enjoyed our Christmas dinner and Cinderella was amazing…. Miss Novell and Miss Burke were particularly impressed by Prince Charming’s performance. Mr Edwards became part of the show helping out the ugly sisters. Maryam also found the golden key to save Cinderella from the locked cellar.
Enjoy your Christmas break.
We are all very proud of the children’s progress this term.
Happy New Year!
This week we have launched our class ‘Alban Bears.’ They will be visiting you at home during this year. Please keep them in their yellow Alban City bags. Inside you will find a book for the children to write in and a message from Alban Bear. The children are very excited to take them home for the weekend. Enjoy!
This week we have opened our school library and celebrated the opening by having a story teller in. Sky class went to their ‘story time,’ with Maple Primary School’s Year One class, from down the road! We all had so much fun. In class we have been practising using the laptops. We used them to create meal choices for our new cafe role play areas.
Our new topic this half term is called ‘Our Senses’. To awaken our taste buds we tried different bowls of porridge after reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children were able to think of lots of different adjectives to describe the taste of the diverse bowls of porridge!!! (Although the children forgot that Goldilocks didn’t enjoy every bowl….!) We have also been solving subtraction calculations during our Maths lessons.
What a fun week we have had! The children enjoyed dressing up as what they would like to be when they grow up. They produced some lovely writing using connectives when describing the jobs they would like to have. The children have also responded to our shop survey by creating maps of the high street. Have a look at Aqua’s 3D map! Don’t forget to use the rulers given out during the Maths talk. You can use them to help with the ‘counting on’ method when solving addition. Why not try an interactive number line by using the i-Pad application; Teaching Number Lines by Little Monkey Apps.
This week we took advantage of being a city school and visited the high street. We carried out a shop survey as part of our topic work on our local area. During our Maths lessons we have been solving addition calculations using the counting on method. In our Literacy lessons we have been exploring nouns.
Wow! Miss Burke and Miss Novell have been very impressed with the children’s story writing. The children cannot wait to show you their writing and new displays in the shared area.
We visited the Abbey this week to do some observational drawings and members of the public were also impressed with the children’s behaviour.
