Lights, Camera, Action!

What a fantastic performance from the children on Thursday! We are all really proud of their singing and acting skills. The children were very excited to have their family in to watch – thank you for coming. 🙂

Busy Busy!

Well what an exciting week we have had. Our Toy Museum opened on Wednesday and it was lovely to welcome so many people to view all of our hard work. We hope that you liked our pictures, drawings and bags that we made. We have enjoyed making and creating during our child led activities. Apple Class enjoyed sharing their Assembly.

ALBAN BEAR!

This week we have launched our class ‘Alban Bears.’ They will be visiting you at home during this year. Please keep them in their yellow Alban City bags. Inside you will find a book for the children to write in and a message from Alban Bear. The children are very excited to take them home for the weekend. Enjoy!

Story Time!

This week we have opened our school library and celebrated the opening by having a story teller in. Sky class went to their ‘story time,’ with Maple Primary School’s Year One class, from down the road! We all had so much fun. In class we have been practising using the laptops. We used them to create meal choices for our new cafe role play areas.

More Porridge Please!

Our new topic this half term is called ‘Our Senses’. To awaken our taste buds we tried different bowls of porridge after reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children were able to think of lots of different adjectives to describe the taste of the diverse bowls of porridge!!! (Although the children forgot that Goldilocks didn’t enjoy every bowl….!) We have also been solving subtraction calculations during our Maths lessons.

When I Grow Up!

What a fun week we have had! The children enjoyed dressing up as what they would like to be when they grow up. They produced some lovely writing using connectives when describing the jobs they would like to have. The children have also responded to our shop survey by creating maps of the high street. Have a look at Aqua’s 3D map! Don’t forget to use the rulers given out during the Maths talk. You can use them to help with the ‘counting on’ method when solving addition. Why not try an interactive number line by using the i-Pad application; Teaching Number Lines by Little Monkey Apps.

In the City!

This week we took advantage of being a city school and visited the high street. We carried out a shop survey as part of our topic work on our local area. During our Maths lessons we have been solving addition calculations using the counting on method. In our Literacy lessons we have been exploring nouns.

Articles

Welcome back Aqua and Sky Class.

Our topic for this term is Ourselves.

The children have been busy finding out about their bodies. We were particularly impressed with the children’s self portrait art work and the dramatic scenes in our hospital and doctors surgery!
