The Three Little Pigs

The last two weeks we have been reading and responding to the story of  ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ We have responded to the story in a variety of ways including selecting materials in our outdoor area to build the strongest house and retelling the story with our friends using masks and small world animals. In maths we have been sorting 2D shapes into shapes with curved/straight sides. We are beginning to describe shape properties.

We are really impressed with the children’s descriptive language when describing parts of the story, however we have noticed that they have needed a lot of support with their use of story language for example time words. The children need  to be able to tell a complete story with a beginning, middle and end.

Welcome to our blog!

We are so impressed by how well the children have settled in. They are busy making new friends and learning ways to become independent learners. Our topic is called; ‘Happily Ever After!” The last two weeks we have been reading and responding to the story of ‘Cinderella’. This week we are focusing on ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ We have started our phonics programme (learning to read and write), in which the children are beginning to apply their knowledge of sounds. For example hearing the initial sounds in words. We started Maths by going over number recognition and formation, and have now moved onto 2D shapes.
