School will be closed for an Occasional Day on Friday 3rd May. School will reopen after the Bank Holiday on Tuesday 7th May.
We started off the Summer term with children and parents taking part in a fun Road Safety Session in the hall, this should help the children establish good road safety habits as they grow up. The children also enjoyed their trip to the Market, they were able to reinforce the work they have been doing with money and coin recognition and buy some lovely fresh produce.
We celebrated our Official Opening on Wednesday with parents, governors and special invited guests. We were extremely lucky to share our day with Alex Brychta the illustrator of the Oxford Reading Tree books who brought the familiar Biff, Chip and Kipper characters to life in workshops with the children. He then formally opened the school during our Opening Ceremony. It was a memorable day celebrating the achievement of everyone involved in bringing Alban City School to life.
If any of our invited guests have not managed to reply formally but would still like to attend our Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 13th March please call the office on 01727 860304 as we would still like to welcome you on the day.
Our Official Opening Ceremony with invited guests will take place on Wednesday 13th March at 2.30pm. The children have already been involved in making a mosaic collage and we are preparing items for our time capsule.
The Spring Term has been very busy at Alban City School. The children have been enjoying their French and Music lessons once a week and we have had our first Waste Awareness Week focusing on recycling, reducing and re-using which will end with an exhibition of models made by the children and staff after school today.
As the date was published in a much earlier newsletter (4.10.12) this is a reminder that our Christmas Celebration which parents are invited to is on Tuesday 11th December at 9.30am.
Our newly formed PTA are busy organising their first event, a Christmas party for all children after school on Friday 14th December. Hopefully as many children as possible will be able to take part in the festive fun but replies need to be returned to school by Wednesday 28th November.
Another newsletter has been sent home today giving details about our Harvest Celebration next week. It also includes further information about our forthcoming Parent/Teacher consultations, please return the reply slip stating your time preferences for a consultation with your child’s teacher on either Tuesday 23rd October or Wednesday 24th October.
Parents are invited to one of our workshops explaining how phonics and early literacy skills are taught in Reception class. The first session is on Tuesday 9th October at 9am, and repeated on Wednesday 10th October at 6.30pm. If you haven’t already returned your slip but would like to come, please let the office know which of the sessions you would like to attend.
