Tonight’s Maths Workshop for parents starts at 6.30pm in the hall. We look forward to seeing you there.
Class photographs have been taken and proofs will be sent home shortly. Orders can be placed either online with delivery arranged to school free of charge or delivered to your home address for a fee, you can also return your order to school. If returning to school there will be a deadline date as the photographers collect them from us, so please read the proof card carefully.
Yesterday the children helped bury a Time Capsule on site containing memorabilia to mark the opening of Alban City School. Items such as photographs of the first intake of children and staff, samples of children’s work and our uniform were all included. The capsule is due to be opened in 25 years time in 2038.
School will be closed for an Occasional Day on Friday 3rd May. School will reopen after the Bank Holiday on Tuesday 7th May.
We started off the Summer term with children and parents taking part in a fun Road Safety Session in the hall, this should help the children establish good road safety habits as they grow up. The children also enjoyed their trip to the Market, they were able to reinforce the work they have been doing with money and coin recognition and buy some lovely fresh produce.
We celebrated our Official Opening on Wednesday with parents, governors and special invited guests. We were extremely lucky to share our day with Alex Brychta the illustrator of the Oxford Reading Tree books who brought the familiar Biff, Chip and Kipper characters to life in workshops with the children. He then formally opened the school during our Opening Ceremony. It was a memorable day celebrating the achievement of everyone involved in bringing Alban City School to life.
If any of our invited guests have not managed to reply formally but would still like to attend our Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 13th March please call the office on 01727 860304 as we would still like to welcome you on the day.
Our Official Opening Ceremony with invited guests will take place on Wednesday 13th March at 2.30pm. The children have already been involved in making a mosaic collage and we are preparing items for our time capsule.
The Spring Term has been very busy at Alban City School. The children have been enjoying their French and Music lessons once a week and we have had our first Waste Awareness Week focusing on recycling, reducing and re-using which will end with an exhibition of models made by the children and staff after school today.
As the date was published in a much earlier newsletter (4.10.12) this is a reminder that our Christmas Celebration which parents are invited to is on Tuesday 11th December at 9.30am.
