We started the week off with a visit from the fire fighters from St Albans Fire Station! We had already prepared lots of questions to ask, here are a few examples of our questions; What do you do when you’re at the fire station but there are no fires? Why do you have to wear a uniform? Do you feel brave? We loved finding out the answers and much more! Since their visit we have transformed our role-play area into a fire station. We have been talking about fire safety and identified hazards within a home which could lead to a fire. In Literacy this week we have written facts about fire-fighters which we have learnt since their visit. In Numeracy we have been securing our knowledge of subtraction. We have noticed that the children are confident with the skills and processes involved in subtraction but still need a little support with their number recognition between 0-20. You could practise number recognition at home by playing games like snap, or searching for numbers in the environment on the way to school.
