When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears…

Oh what did her blue eyes see?…

A huge mess in the home corner! On Monday we came to school to find a huge mess in the home corner – chairs upside down, different sized bowls and spoons on the floor and porridge oats scattered everywhere. It didn’t take us long to recall the main events in the traditional tale ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’ and decide it must have been her causing the mischief. In Literacy this week we have been retelling the story and matching initial sounds to items from the story such as ‘p for porridge’. In Understanding the World we have been programming BeeBots to travel across a BeeBot map from Goldilocks house to the Bears’ house. In Maths this week we have been noticing 2D shapes in the environment, we looked for 2D shapes around school and noticed lots of shapes such as square windows, rectangle radiators, triangle bunting and so much more! Shapes really are everywhere! I wonder what shapes you could find around your home? Could you draw them and bring them into school to show us?

In phonics we have learnt the sounds; s, a t, p, i, n, m, d. We are beginning to segment sounds in words and blend sounds together such as ‘t-a-p, tap’ but we have noticed we do still need lots of practise with this to become more confident!
