Happy New Year!
We have had a great start to the year in Reception this week. The year began with our new topic ‘Emergency!’. This week we have been listening to and discussing different sounds in the environment that you might hear in a car traffic accident. We have represented our ideas linked to this through a drawing. We have also been thinking of lots of interesting questions to ask our fire-fighter visitors next week. In maths we have enjoyed exploring capacity. We discussed the different shapes and sizes of a range of containers, thought about which containers hold the most water and also developed our reasoning on how we know this.
In addition to our usual lessons, we have begun our weekly French lessons this week with Madame Annis and we were also very lucky to have had one of the children’s parents come in to teach us all about King Cake, a tradition taking place each January, in France. Thank you for this fantastic lesson! Our sounds we have learned so far include: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, o, g, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, or, ar
Tricky/high frequency words: the, to, no, and, go, I, me, he, she, we.
(Can you read or write any words using these sounds?)
