Half-term whizzed by as always and we have kick-started our new topic ‘Growing’ this week. We talked about all the things we already know about growing, then talked about what we would like to learn about. Some things included growing our own fruit and vegetables, looking at how dinosaurs grew and evolved, reading books like Jasper’s Beanstalk and Oliver’s Vegetables, and many more exciting things. We wrote letters to a farm to ask them whether we could have some eggs to grow into chicks, and we have our fingers crossed that we will get a reply from the farm! In maths we have been learning about money and using it to pay for different objects in our new role-play area ‘The Farm Shop’, which the children made with all of their own ideas and resources.
The sounds we have learnt so far include: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, o, g, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, or, ar, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er
