Roar-some dinosaurs!

In English this week, we have continued our writing unit on dinosaurs, planning and writing a non chronological report. We applied the skills we learnt throughout the unit to our reports, including prepositions, prefixes and suffixes and subordinating conjunctions.

This week we have worked on mental subtraction methods, focusing on regrouping and compensation. We found it helpful to use manipulatives to help us and have begun working with 2 and 3 digit numbers.

Next week we will be looking at inverse and written addition. You can help your children by asking them questions which allow them to practise their skills; perhaps when doing the shopping. This could help them to relate to the maths work as well as practise the methods.

In Place and Time, we learnt about the changes that occurred in the Mesozoic era during the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. In faith and belief we wrote a story that described a religious festival and in Science we discussed how fossilisation occurred. In PE, we practised and improved our Yoga sequences and discussed the muscles we used and how Yoga and mindful breathing made us feel. We’ve created a Yoga board in the shared area so please come and take a look!
