A busy week!

We’ve had a great first full week and have been working hard in all subjects. In Maths, we have been revising our knowledge of numbers to 20 and solved problems with odd and even numbers. We have also been working on using our number bonds to 10 to help us when adding numbers to 10. The children have been working really hard to create lots of different number sentences to make the same answer during soft start.

In Literacy, we read the book ‘How I Became a Pirate’. We were able to discuss the book and use description to retell the story. The children used some amazing adjectives to describe pictures from the story.

In Science, we have begun our topic on Plants. We discussed what we already knew about plants and what a plant needs to survive.  We then went out onto the playground to observe the plants and flowers.  They noticed lots of vegetables growing, the leaves falling off trees and also some plants that had died – we were able to discuss why they might have died.

Please be sure to check your child’s book bag for their spellings this week. They will be tested every Friday. The children do not need to bring back in their spelling sheets – they are able to stay at home!

We are also going to be sticking the children’s log for Google Classroom in their reading records over the next few days so please make sure they have them in school.

As we are unable to have the ‘Meet the teacher’ meetings this year we have made a little video to introduce ourselves and go over important information. Follow the link below:
