What a lot of hope and joy in Year 4 this week!

Firstly, we would like to say a huge well done to our Year 4s who have coped superbly with the unusually hot temperatures this week and continue to impress us with their fantastic behaviour for learning in  class.

We have been exploring all the features of report writing in English, in particular the importance of a catchy headline to hook the reader and the need of the 5 Ws in an opening paragraph to give an overview of what will be in our report. We can’t wait to get started next week and show you how we’ve done reporting Howard Carter’s discovery…

In Maths, we have been estimating to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000, using our reasoning skills to explain how and why we round up or down.

Mrs Dore, our music teacher, has shown us the different instruments that make up an orchestra and we had fun watching a clip of a live orchestra coming together on the streets playing ‘Ode to Joy’ to the public. We had a go at being conductors and discovered that Beethoven composed this with just 5 notes!

Mrs Stray introduced our value this week in her virtual assembly on Monday – ‘Hope’. We continued this in our class assembly and created a collage representing all the things and thoughts that give us hope.

Homework diaries are in your children’s bags and homework has been set on GoogleClassroom.

Have a wonderful week end and enjoy the sun.
