The children have enjoyed coming to school in their own clothes today. Thank you for all the donations for children in need. We enjoyed doing some exercise with Jo wicks and Pudsey.
Thank you for reading the children’s books with them 4 times. I’m sure you’ll agree that they become so much more confident by the fourth time. Also it gives you more of a chance to discuss the story, talk about characters and setting etc…
The children seemed excited to pick their own class library book yesterday. You can enjoy reading it together and it’s a good opportunity to spot the tricky words like: I, no, go, to, the. Please can they be returned next Thursday to be changed.
In phonics this week we have learnt the sounds l, ll and ss. That takes us to the end of the phase 2 sounds so we’ll be working on blending the sounds for reading and spelling.
Our number of the week is 8. The rhyme is: Make a s and do not wait, when it’s joined up you have an eight.
We have been thinking about time and what we do at different times of the day. We have enjoyed learning the days of the week through a song. The link is below if you’d like the children to sing it to you!
Happy Diwali for those who are celebrating this weekend. The children have been learning about the festival of Diwali this week in school.
During discovery time one of the children made a raft out of straws and tape, which developed into a lesson about floating and sinking. The children were very good at describing the properties of objects and predicting if they thought something would float or sink.
