Shapes all around us

This week in maths we have been learning about 2D shapes, which include circles, triangles, squares and rectangles. We have talked about their properties, found different shapes in our environment and made our own shapes out of lollipop sticks.

Our number of the week is 11 so we have been learning how to make 11 in different ways.

In phonics we have been practising blending and segmenting words for reading and writing,  in different ways.

The children have been busy in their discovery time (child initiated play). We have seen a great improvement in the models the children are making. They have been encouraged to think about what they are going to make, select appropriate resources to use and make improvements to make it even better.

Here is an ice cream shop and a rocket.

Just a polite reminder that Reception finish their day at 3:15pm. Please can you be on time to collect your children. Thank you.
