With Christmas just around the corner, we have had an extremely busy week in Year 6.
Following our work on the renowned artist Alberto Giacometti, we devoted an entire day to creating sculptures inspired by his work. Firstly, we planned and labelled drawings of our masterpieces and discussed the materials which we would be using.
The next stage saw us working in the medium of metal and manipulating a single piece into the form of a human. This wasn’t easy and we were really impressed with how everyone persevered and ultimately succeeded in forming some spectacular creations.
Then it was time for the Modroc; a little mess ensued. However, as you can see from the photos, the children focussed and worked really well to develop their wire sculptures and attach them to a wooden plinth.
We look forward to exhibiting and sharing these incredible pieces of art with you next week.
In English this week we have focussed on the correct ways to punctuate speech and seamlessly integrating this into description to move the action along. Next week, we will be writing a story based on The Dead Family Diaz.
In Maths lessons this week, we have continued our work on the properties of shape and will carry on into next week finding the areas of a variety of shapes.
Thank you to Daisy, Anna, Robin and Madeleine for putting up the very festive-looking Christmas tree in the Year 6 shared area.
