How the time has flown!

We cannot believe we are at the end of our first term in Year 2. We have loved getting to know the classes and learning so many fun things together!

This week in Maths, we have been learning all about 2D shapes! We have been identifying the different features of a 2D shape such as; how many vertices they have, whether they have straight or curved edges and whether we can spot any lines of symmetry. We even created our own shapes using match sticks. We challenged the children to create a Christmas themed picture using the shapes we have learnt about.

In English, we based this week’s learning all around Excitable Edgar (John Lewis Advert 2019). We wrote a character description about Edgar using amazing noun phrases to describe his personality. We also wrote apology letters to the villagers to say sorry for all the destruction we caused.

In Science, we took part in a Science experiment to investigate how germs spread. We used a blob of paint to symbolise a germ and then rubbed our hands together, put our hands on our faces and put our hands on the table to see how quickly they can spread. We thought about how we can prevent this from happening by washing our hands properly.

The children had so much fun at their christmas disco! They all spent the whole time dancing with each other and singing lots of christmas songs!

A very BIG thank you!!
