Happy Easter!

Just like that we have finished another term in Year 2!

In Maths, we have been using our addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and fraction knowledge to solve problems. Each day we have looked at different types of word problems and come up with possible strategies to solve the problems.  Some of these were very tricky and the children displayed amazing resilience!

In English, we have continued learning about poems. We started off the week by turning our classrooms into our very own rainforests. We listened out for sounds and made note of these. As a class, we came up with some amazing vocabulary to describe both what we could see and what we could hear.

In D&T, we have been learning all about different pop up mechanisms. We spent time learning how to make these mechanisms then planned what we could use them for. We decided to make a pop-up card about St Albans with lots of interesting facts in them.

In Music each child gave a performance to the rest of the class. We had some wonderful piano playing, chime bar playing and even some singing! Well done everyone for being brilliant and brave performers!

Reminders:

  • Homework is now weekly. It is given out on a Friday and due the following Friday. Please ensure children are doing this. It is set on Google Classroom but paper copies are available if needed.
  • Due to COVID, children are not allowed to bring in toys/teddies/their own pencil cases from home. (of course, hand cream/lip balm is absolutely fine)
  • PE will still be on Thursday/Friday next term.
  • Please make sure the children have their book/reading record every day as they are read with in school.

Have a lovely and restful Easter break. Well done to everyone for working so hard this term. We know it has been an incredibly different term and most of it they have spent learning from home but they have truly been amazing!
