Welcome back to another term in Year 2!
We hope you had a restful Easter holidays and managed to enjoy the sunshine.
In Maths, we have been revising our place value knowledge and even extending our knowledge into hundreds. We have been partitioning 3 digit numbers and writing them in words. We also had a few challenge questions where the children spotted mistakes and were able to reason and explain why they were wrong.
In English, we have been very busy travelling all around the world. We are basing our topic on ‘Atlas of Adventures’. This week we travelled to Finland, we learnt lots of interesting facts and were able to use these facts to answer questions. We also travelled to London and went on a (virtual) ride on the London Eye, we then sent postcards to our friends to share what we had learnt and describe the amazing sights!
We started our new Science topic all about Materials. We searched round the classroom for different materials and then categorised them into a grid.
Great British Year 2 Bake Off
In D&T this term we will be learning about making bread, breads from around the world and designing our own bread. This week we made bread rolls, focussing on mixing and kneading the bread. The children worked in groups to do this and worked so well together – lots of young bakers in the making!
