Here We Are

Here we are at the end of the 2nd full week! Year 1 are settling very well and are exploring the resources around them. We’ve had milkshakes being created using wool; iconic landmarks from around the world being built and even making a rocket like that of Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic!

In maths we have been practising understanding more and less. You can help at home by choosing a number up to 20, making it using objects you have like lego blocks, then asking your child what one more or one less would be. You could make it easier by telling it as a story about people on a bus. With 1 person getting on or off or writing the numbers to 20.

In English we have been reading the story ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers. We’ve been thinking about what we would say to an alien if it visited Earth.

Please remember to bring in wellies that are named and encourage your child to read their book 3 times. We change them on a Monday and Thursday.
