Well that’s week 2 of Year 2 done! And what a busy week it has been. Everyone has worked so hard and we are all settling into the new routines.
In English we have enjoyed reading ‘The Pirates Next Door’ by Jonny Duddle and have been exploring vocabulary and writing some lovely descriptive noun phrases, using a thesaurus to help us find interesting adjectives.
In Maths we have been using our knowledge of doubling numbers to 10 to find near doubles to help our calculations. This will help us with our quick mental maths.
Our Art topic has started with creating a beautiful clay sculpture of a natural object of our choice. We are very proud of our creations and you are welcome to look at them as they dry in our classrooms.
In RE we have looked at everyday symbols and thought about what they represent and why we have them.
On Tuesday we had an amazing time at the visiting Code Club exhibition, where we had an opportunity to see how technology has changed over the years. Can you believe that telephones used to be big and needed to be plugged in? It was so much fun playing all the old computer games.
Remember to check Google Classroom for this week’s homework. Login details can be found in the front of your reading record and if you would prefer a hard copy, please let us know.
If you need to change your reading book, please leave it in the labelled box on Monday or Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend
