Digital learning and more!

Year 3 have had a fantastic week in school.

Thank you to Mr Bushell for organising a Computing Workshop on Tuesday afternoon. The children got to use some computers from the past; including an Atari, a BBC computer and even an electric typewriter. Some of the children also got to sit in an original Sinclair C5 – the first electric car! It was an interactive and immersive experience and it was amazing to see how much technology has changed in just one generation.

This week in English, we looked at instructions and their special features. We found that instructions use time conjunctions like first, next, then, after that and finally, as well as short sentences, prepositions and lots of imperative verbs. In Maths, we have been consolidating and furthering our understanding of Place Value by looking at ten more and ten less, crossing hundreds. What is ten less than 104? What is ten more than 693?

In History, we began our exciting journey to Stone Age Britain, looking at secondary sources to ask questions. In Science, we looked carefully at rock samples and observed whether they were rough, smooth, jagged, grainy, layered, porous, soft, hard or grainy and we classified different types of rocks. In Music, Miss Sazanova gave every child a recorder to take home. Please remind children that they should put the recorder back in their school bag as soon as they finish practising, so that it is always ready in school

Homework:

Homework is on Google Classroom. Please let your class teacher know if you would like the Homework printed and sent home on paper.

Times Tables Rock Stars:

Children should practise their Times Tables  on the Times Tables Rock Stars website. In Year 3, children should practise in the ‘Garage’. Please let your class teacher know if you are not able to access Times Tables Rock Stars at home.

Reading:

Please read with your child at least 3 times a week for 10 minutes and sign the Homework Diary. Please help your child to get into the habit of putting their Homework Diary and their Reading Book into their school bag every day.

Reminders:

Please remember to send your child with a small snack every day, as well as a named, filled water bottle.

Amber: P.E. is Monday and Wednesday

Vermilion: P.E. is Wednesday and Friday

Have a wonderful weeked.
