A Wonderful Week in Year 3

We have had another wonderful week in Year 3. We are feeling very proud. In Maths we began learning about horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular lines. We have been looking at 2D shapes and trying to find vertical and horizontal lines in different shapes.

In English, we have been looking at letters and writing a letter from the perspective of the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood. The poor wolf didn’t mean to blow down the straw house and the stick house and the letter is their chance to tell their side of the story.

In Science, the children had the chance  to carry out their fair test, to find out whether people with the longest leg bones jump the furthest. In most groups the person with the longest leg bone did jump the furthest but in a couple of groups it was the person with the second longest leg bone. We talked about why that could be. We are getting very good at asking questions about the world around us.

This week we also started our exciting DT project. Children started to design their own festive cushion and they had the chance to practise the running stitch. Children showed lots of resilience as the sewing wasn’t always easy and we had to keep trying even when it was very tricky.

Well done Year 3. See you at the Christmas Fair tomorrow.
