Welcome back!

It was lovely to see everyone back after the Christmas holidays.  Thank you once again for your kind gifts, they were much appreciated.

This week we have moved onto new topics and as always there were plenty of interesting questions to think about. In RE we learnt about how and why Muslims pray. Why do they face east when they pray?  Do they have to be in the mosque when they pray? Why do they wash before they pray?

In Science we thought about where light comes from. Is a window a source of light? Is the moon a source of light? We even thought about the dark side of the moon!

In Art we started to build our sketching stamina by practising different types of marks that you can make with a pencil.

In History we looked at a time line and made our own timeline of our life so far.  Which is the longest period in History; Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron Age?

In English we woke up our brains and fingers by building vocabulary and then writing setting descriptions from our beautiful new story book. Look it up online : The Mousehole Cat by Antonia Barker. It is a story about a real place in Cornwall called Mousehole and a very brave cat called Mowser.

In Maths we are working on our times tables. This week we focused on our 3 times table, building arrays and polishing up our number facts about the 3 times table.

Have a great weekend,

The Year 3 team.
