Each year selected children from across St Albans attend trials in order to secure a place on football teams to represent the district, last year from Alban City, we had 3 boys represent the district. This year, two of the children who attend Alban City were chosen out of the many that trialled to secure their places in the district teams this season; Sam Hodgkinson (who also represented district last year) and Mary-Catherine Andersen.
Both have had successful starts to their seasons with a much higher level of expectations around performance for both. Sam has played in a variety of positions this year and has been lucky enough to play at Crystal Palace in the national cup.
Mary-Catherine and the girls team have had real success this year and as part of the girls St Albans District reached the quarter finals of the national cup where they meet Essex. She has played in defence this year and has proved herself in a team of some very competitive girls to secure her place in the team.
