A place we all belong…

This week we have continued with our theme of ‘lighthouses’ focusing on a story about a Lighthouse Keeper who was saved by the local village people when his lamp went out during a storm. We practised writing questions of things we would like to ask the Lighthouse Keeper or the Villagers before hot seating the characters. We then drew a story map ready to write the story next week.

Spellings for this week are:

  1. because
  2. have
  3. group
  4. once
  5. world
  6. field

In Maths, we have been working on subtraction of numbers within 20. We used 20 frames and counters to practise our method before writing the number sentences in our books. We also focused on building teens numbers using diennes to represent 10 and some more.

Our topic this week has been religious education and we have been looking specifically at belonging within Judaism and Christianity and how people show that they belong to these different religions. We also have looked at how we belong within our family, school and clubs.

As part of our Feelit! programme, recognising and dealing with different emotions, we looked at how being ANNOYED might feel.

We have been having a few issues with children playing with the alarm settings and regularly changing the setting on their digital watches in the classroom and would ask that if you would like you child to wear a watch to practise learning the time that it is a simple analogue one.

Thank you for your support.
