Maps and local landmarks!

Good Morning,

In Geography this week, we have been focusing on our local area, we have specifically been looking at maps of St. Albans before creating our own maps of St. Albans . We then went on a trip down to St. Albans Cathedral to look at the local landmarks and see if we could follow a route. We have also been looking at aerial view and considering how local and London landmarks look from above.

In Maths, the children have been practising their 2, 5 and 10 times tables using a variety of problem solving activities. We have been using number sentences and arrays to work out the answers to word problems. e.g. If one party bag has 2 lollies, 5 pencils and 10 stickers how many would we need to buy for 5 party bags?

In Phonics this week, we have been continuing with our mock phonics screening assessments in preparation for the check in June.

In English, we have continued to write our own version of Mr Gumpy’s Outing, including editing and writing it up as a book.

Spellings for next week are:

  1. half
  2. caught
  3. station
  4. special
  5. push
  6. full

As part of our Feelit programme, we have looked at how ‘shy’ might look and how it makes us feel.

Please remember next week is a 4 day week (Monday – Thursday).

Have a wonderful weekend break.
