Time flies when you’re having fun and it certainly is as we are already over half way through this term! We’ve been as busy as ever and these are some of the things we have been up to this week.
In Maths we have been exploring different resources to help understand the value of each digit in a 2-digit number. We have thought about the ones and tens within a number and used base-10, coins, a bead string, arrow cards and part-part-whole models to build numbers.
In English we have been exploring vocabulary in preparation for our pirate story writing and we are always reminding ourselves to use capital letters and full stops, and making sure we are using our best handwriting.
In Science we have continued to think about what humans need to survive and through careful consideration we realised we don’t actually need much to be able to live. Food, water and shelter are the essentials, everything else is a nice to have! We enjoyed putting what we had learnt into messages and sent them out to sea.
In Art this week we have drawn leaves using the ‘continuous line’ method and the ‘blind’ method (where we cover up what we are drawing and use our amazing observational skills). We are really enjoying drawing in our sketchbooks and experimenting with different methods. Our leaves are amazing, aren’t they?
Please remember to read every night, check Google Classroom for homework and learn your spellings. The homework this week is to draw, paint or collage a rainforest animal of your choice. Enjoy!
Have a great weekend!
Best wishes
