The curriculum at Alban City School has been carefully planned to enable children to develop the knowledge and skills that they will need for the next step in their learning journey when they leave our school. It is sequenced so that the intended curriculum for each year group builds on what has been taught before and children work towards clear end points. There is a broad range of subjects linked to the National Curriculum that all children have access to, regardless of their individual learning needs, and teachers make meaningful links between subjects whenever possible so that children can connect new knowledge with existing knowledge to help them remember it.
Children’s happiness, wellbeing and high achievement is at the heart of everything we do, so our curriculum is supported by a wide range of enrichment activities and extra-curricular opportunities. These experiences also help children to develop the cultural capital that they will benefit from throughout their lives.
Our curriculum also extends beyond the academic to support children’s personal development. We aim for children to be kind, confident, responsible and respectful and to develop the strength of character to make a positive contribution to society, both throughout their education and as adults.
