Five Ways to Wellbeing

Check out our lovely Learning Jungle Display opposite the Community Room!

Keep on Learning is one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing and at Alban City School we have introduced Thinking Classrooms to help us with our learning.  Research shows that learning how to learn (also known as metacognition) can raise attainment and can lead to better outcomes than just ability alone.  The jungle animals represent different learning powers that the children will use across the curriculum.
The children have all been introduced to the animals and we will be holding some Thinking Classroom roadshows for parents and carers where you can learn more about what we’re up to and meet the animals!

Staying Connected is a Bear Necessity!

Staying Connected is a Bear Necessity!During the second lockdown, around 400 little bears wearing Alban City School t-shirts made their way to new homes to help our children continue to feel connected. We learned about the importance of connection to each other and our communities as part of our work on the Five Ways to Wellbeing. In these strangest of times, we wanted to recognise the children’s huge efforts in carrying on with their education remotely and help them continue to feel part of the school community. The bears were delivered by members of school staff, Lani the school dog and volunteers from the P.T.A. and everyone really enjoyed seeing smiles on the children’s faces as they received their bears. The bears made another appearance dressed up as story book characters for an online World Book Day 2021!
