What a historic week it has been! Year 3 children have travelled back thousands of years to visit the Stone Age! Today, we all enjoyed Stone Age Day which started with a visit by a cave woman who taught us all about the way life started in the Palaeolithic era. Each class then took part in workshops including a bone investigation in which we studied real bones to identify animals which stone age people may have eaten. In the cave painting workshop, children created some wonderful designs on slate. In the afternoon, everyone had a chance to take part in archery as if hunting for animals like the Neolithic people. It has been wonderful to welcome children into Year 3 for our new school year! Already children have started learning about the Stone Age in History and have considered what life was like thousands of years ago.
We are all excited about Stone Age Day which will take place on Friday 18th September. We will take part in activities and workshops throughout the day.
We have also started learning about rocks and soils in Science and have enjoyed seeing some of the special rocks which children found during the holidays.
Everyone is settling in to their new class and making new friends and we look forward to the coming weeks in which we will get to know children further.
