Both ACS Boys teams continued their unbeaten starts to their league campaigns. Bowmansgreen were the visitors at Normandy Rd on Wednesday 27th September.
In a much changed starting line up the B team struggled in the first half, with the bigger pitch, and conceded a goal to finish the half 0-1 down. The team and players all responded well to the instructions given at half time and grew into the match with a strong performance from Jishnu who won a penalty, which was converted by Oliver C. ACS pushed for a winner and twice were denied by the Bowmansgreen goalkeeper before the final whistle ended the match 1-1.
ACS’ A team continued their progress as a team, quickly racing into a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes with goals from Sam, Thomas and Oscar. Bowmansgreen A then came to life scored two quick goals to end the half 3-2. ACS settled themselves into the second half with commanding performances from Harry D and Sam in defence. ACS’ Luca continued on his form showing great vision to pick out first Thomas and then Sam to double their tallies for the day. ACS rounded out the scoring with a well earned goal for Arlo and his hard working performance from midfield. Bowmansgreen got a late consolation in the final 5 minutes but ACS held on to finish the match 6-3 with two wins from two in their title defence.
I was incredibly impressed with both teams responses to the half time instructions which led to two strong second half performances.
