Football results

Over the last couple of weeks our football teams have all been involved in matches.

The Boys A team won their game against St John Fisher on an incredibly large pitch 1-0, they played some impressive football making use of the space to spread the ball and create lots of chances (goal from Thomas L). Then they played their rescheduled match against Oakwood and ended up loosing 3-6 (Harry J, Cam and Thomas L). They were really disappointed to loose the game which will surely fuel them for their next meeting.

Boys B played Samuel Ryder and Killigrew B, loosing 5-1 and 6-0 respectively, the boys struggled in both matches at the beginning conceding lots of early goals but listened to the instructions at half time in both to only concede one more in the second half of each game and managed to score against Samuel Ryder (Oliver).

Girls have been enjoying their results as the hard work on the training pitch is paying off with victories over Cunninghamhill and Samuel Ryder, winning 2-1 and 4-1 respectively. They first travelled to Cunninghamhill where they created lots of chances in the first half, hitting the post twice before Mary-Catherine gave them the lead. Then a cross from the left was turned into their own net by one of the Cunninghamhill players early in the second half. Following some great defending from Elizabeth, Cunninghamhill had few chance but scored with their first shot on goal late in the second half to finish the match 2-1. Against Samuel Ryder, Alban City converted their dominance to score three before half time and added a fourth before Samuel Ryder scored in the final minutes. Goals from Jemima x 3 and M-C).

In the cup, Alban City girls also played their rescheduled match against Oakwood, running out 4-1 winners with goals from Mary-Catherine x3 and Jemima. This sets up a quarter final tie against Gardenfields in what will surely be the girls biggest test so far this season.

The girls who haven’t yet had a chance to play for the team plus a few Year 5’s got their chance to represent the school against Skyswood girls B. They showed fantastic teamwork and skill to lead 4-0 at half time with goals from Eliza B x2, Lottie and Amber. After half time the girls played some lovely football, adding 3 more goals (Chloe W, Indigo and Betsy) to finish the match 7-0 winners. The girls were really impressive and showed calm on the ball to pass and move up the pitch so easily.
