The Girls football team won their penultimate match of the league campaign 1-0 against Mandeville (Elizabeth), which meant they went into the final game of the season knowing that a victory would give them a first ever league win. They were the dominant team in the second half but just couldn’t find any clear chances against a very organised Prae Wood team who took their chances on the break. Alban City were still really proud of themselves as they pushed Prae Wood until the final game of the season, finishing 2nd in only their second season competing in the league.
Top goalscorers:
Mary-Catherine – 14
Jemima – 5
They have also represented the school at Watford FC dome where they played in the premier league primary stars tournament, going unbeaten in their group but losing out on a place in the semifinals by 4 points. They also participated in a PSHE session on teamwork which they thoroughly enjoyed and even got to meet some of the first team players
A special thank you to Erin Andersen, who has coached the girls this year, we both agreed that the girls have improved so much in the short 6 months they have played together and have inspired lots of other girls within school to play.
