This week in Year 1…

Hi everyone,

It’s been another fantastic week in  year 1. The children have coped well with the new routine and being back at school.

In Maths, we have been looking at ordinal numbers,  we have practiced this with the children ordering their arrival in the mornings alongside learning about floors in a building and places in a running race.

In English, we have been focusing on our new text ‘My friend Earth’ and have been making collages and writing sentences in our books.

In Phonics, we are continuing to review previous learning and use our knowledge to read decodable books.

Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child reads 4 times and this has been written in their yellow books. Please bring in a waterproof jacket with a hood or a hat for those drizzly days when we can still play outside. PE kits will stay in school and be sent home at the end of the half term.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
