We are in de-Nile!`

This week we have been preparing to write a letter to describe an Ancient Egyptian artefact. We have  extended our vocabulary using adjectives and prepositions in order to write extended noun phrases.

In maths, we have represented numbers beyond 1000 in different ways and compared the size of different numbers. We have been working on our 6 times table too.

This week in science, we have investigated the properties of solids, liquids and gases. We compared three different balloons, one with ice, another with water inside and the third with air and considered the different properties. We learnt that all things are made of atoms and we worked together to behave as the molecules would in different states of matter.

In history we learnt why the river Nile was so important to the Ancient Egyptians. Without the river Nile, we realised that the Egyptians couldn’t have lasted as long as they did without it flooding to bring silt for farming or using the river to transport goods.

We have also been busy with RE, learning about Guru Nanak and how the Sikh religion was founded. We listened to the story and we will consider how it relates to modern Sikhs today.

It has been a busy week!

Have a good weekend,

Year 4 Team
