That’s week 2 completed and what a great start to the week Crimson class had! They took part in a football skills session with a coach from Tottenham Hotspur football team. Everyone learnt to dribble and control the ball, which was great fun. Scarlet class are looking forward to taking part in the same workshop on in a couple of weeks time.
For the next two weeks in English we are looking at letter writing. We listened closely to ‘The Thank You Letter’ by Jane Cabrera before answering questions and identifying features of letters. Next week we are writing our own letters.
In Maths we have been using our knowledge of doubles to work out ‘near doubles’ calculations and have also started regrouping numbers to help with mental calculations. The children are demonstrating a secure knowledge of number.
Animals including humans, is the unit we are looking at in Science this half term. We started by looking at how a chick develops in the egg before it hatches. We then observed a video of chicks very closely to identify what they need to survive.
It has been lovely to see the children show interest in the roles of Eco Rep and School Council Rep and to support each other when they have chosen to stand up and explain why they would like the role. The children are showing great maturity.
There are spellings to learn for next Friday (little green book in book bags) and homework on Google Classroom (please let us know if you would like a paper copy).
Have a fabulous weekend.
Best wishes
