Nature Art and more!

Another busy week of learning in Year 2.

This week, in English, we have written our very own thank you letters. On Monday we thought about things we are thankful for and why, for example healthy food that helps us to grow or our friends who make us laugh. On Tuesday and Wednesday we wrote our letters using rehearse-write-check to make sure we wrote our best sentences.  The children are writing brilliantly and we are so proud of them.

In Science we have been thinking carefully about questions to ask visitors about being pregnant, having a baby and/or a toddler. In groups we thought about what we already know before deciding on questions that would help us learn even more. We were then able to ask these questions and get real responses!

NOTE: Over the next two weeks, in science, we will be thinking about what humans need to survive. Please could the children bring in a plastic bottle, as they will be writing letters about what they would need to survive while on a desert island and sending their messages out to sea!

In Art we are looking at ‘artists as explorers’ and went to the churchyard to collect natural materials to create ‘nature art’.  Thank you to the parent helpers who joined us.

In R.E, we have been learning about Christian symbols and their significance. These included a dove, cross and candle.  We also spotted some crosses in the churchyard this afternoon.

Homework and spelling can be found on Google Classroom.  Please remember to send spelling books back in to school on Fridays.  Well done to those of you who are reading everyday.  Keep it up!

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

Best wishes
