What a special week; Stone Age Day and Language Day all in one week! Stone Age Day was a great success, it really got us thinking about how clever people were. First, we were introduced to Stevie and were taught how to shoot an arrow and then hunted Stone Age animals – even Mr Edwards had a go! We then created our own cave art using slates and chalks. Afterwards we all sat in the hall and had an opportunity to handle some artefacts that people would have used including flint axes, antlers and furs from various animals. In the afternoon we all made a flint arrow and we sketched and explored bones! A full and fantastic day. Please see some photos below.
On European Languages Day, it was lovely seeing so many children dressed in their flag colours. They enjoyed showing each other what they were wearing and loved hearing Mrs Poole read them Jack and the Beanstalk in German during our whole school assembly.
We have been exploring the story ‘Stone Age Boy’ in English this week, we sequenced the story and wrote sentences in the past tense. We continued to build our skills using charcoal in Art and started learning about the 5 pillars of Islam in RE. We loved testing our super six rocks to see which were hard and which were soft.
Have a great weekend!
