Autumn has arrived!

Autumn has arrived in Year 3; we learnt the meaning of new words such as umber and translucent to help us write acrostic poems. We are very proud of them.

In Maths we continued to work on written column addition and subtraction with exchanging across tens and hundreds. Your child has a sheet of sums to reinforce their learning for homework this week. Everyone has been working hard and challenging themselves. Well done!

In History we looked at cave paintings and saw there were marks that looked like counting. We thought about why people might need to count in the Stone Age.  We had interesting discussions about which reasons we thought were most important.

In RE we learnt about the third pillar of Islam – charity. We thought about how a smile can be an act of charity because the prophet Muhammad said a smile is an act of charity.  We thought about how a smile makes us feel when we give it or receive it.

In Art we continued to explore using charcoal, chalk and coloured chalk.  This made us think about how people would have used charcoal and chalks.

Keep practising your recorder following the videos, you are making great progress.

Have a wonderful weekend,

The Year 3 team.
