Pizza, sunglasses and using our 4 times table.

We have had an exciting week full of interesting discoveries, in DT we surveyed our classes and discovered that while Amber class prefer pepperoni  pizza and ham and pineapple pizza, Vermillion like BBQ chicken! Everyone recorded the data in a tally chart and they drew a graph to show our findings. We also found out that squid is the favourite pizza topping in Japan!

In Science we investigated the best material to make sunglasses: we used a light meter and torch to test a range of materials and we recorded the results. Red plastic worked the best because it was a translucent material which let some light through but also allowed us to see. Cardboard or tinfoil was the worst choice because these materials are opaque and we couldn’t see anything, even if they gave us the best results with the light meter.

In Maths we continued to work on our times tables using arrays to prove number facts from our 4 times table. In English, we wrote a narrative using prepositions, speech and powerful description.

In RE, the children enjoyed showing their knowledge of the features of a mosque by creating  an A3 flap version of the inside and outside of a mosque. Next week we are going to go even bigger by turning our classrooms into a mosque. Watch this space!
