This week in English, the children have been having fun creating their own version of our class text, Mr Gumpy’s Outing. They chose their own animals to join Mr Gumpy and wrote sentences using some exciting verbs to describe their bad behaviour!
In Maths, we have worked on drawing and linking arrays to the associated number sentence. This involved finding the maths in the picture to draw arrays and repeated addition as well our knowledge of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables to help us solve each problem.
Our Geography topic this week has been ‘extreme weather’ which the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about. We studied what happens when a drought or a flood occurs and the reasons why this might happen. We also explored parts of the world that are affected by hurricanes and monsoons, how it might feel to be close by and the impact of these natural weather features. The children went on to use their understanding of tornadoes and twisters to give a fabulous weather presentation to their classmates!
In Phonics this week, we have continued to review all our previously learnt sounds and put our spelling into practise by creating sentences using these words.
Please keep reading regularly with your child. We will change reading books on a Monday and Thursday.
Please also remember to bring in any borrowed library books on a Monday for Aqua Class and a Tuesday for Sky Class ready to be changed.
On Friday 9th both classes will be going to the sports field (same place as last year) at 9:30 am for an hour. If you are able to help a sign up sheet will be outside both classrooms from Monday.
Have a lovely weekend!
