Sports day on Friday was a big success, the children seemed to really enjoy taking part in all of the different sports activities. A huge thank you to the parents volunteers that walked with us to and from the field.
In Phonics this week we have continued with our focus on reading and writing CVCC and CCVC words. We have also been focusing on identifying ‘harder to read’ words and digraphs/trigraphs within sentences to help us when reading. After half term we will be starting to learn the new phase 5 digraphs. Please continue to encourage the children to practise and become confident using the phase 2 and phase 3 sounds for reading and writing. The class teachers will put up the new sounds each week on the classroom doors.
In Maths we have been recognising and ordering numbers to 20, we have been encouraging children to explain how they know the position of numbers using language such as before, after, one more than, one less than. We have also been starting to practise writing of numbers to 20. This is something we would appreciate you supporting the children with at home.
In our topic lessons we have continued to focus on learning new information and facts about space. We then thought about why Earth is the best place for humans, plants and animals to live and why other planets are not suitable. Some of the children then chose to write their own non-fiction space books in their discovery time.
Have a great half term break!
Key Points

- Please save any toilet rolls so Reception can make craft minibeasts
- Both classes will have a class sharing assembly after half term- Lime Class 13th june and Apple Class 20th June.
