Welcome back to our final half term of Year 2! We hope you all had an enjoyable week off school.
A theme has been running through the week – Our Wonderful World.
In RE we we spent some peaceful time outside listening to sounds and seeing what is around us.
In Art, we have done some super observation drawings, inspired by things in our wonderful world, which will be used at a later stage when we learn about printing. What budding artists we have!
In PSHE we shared ideas about how to look after the world, our families, our school and our pets. Lots of very considerate and caring ideas were discussed.
In Maths, we enjoyed cutting tortillas into fractions to see that some fractions are equivalent. Perhaps you will see some fractions at home too when you cut fruit or vegetables into halves and quarters.
In History we reminded ourselves about our previous learning about Mary Seacole, Florence Nightingale and Grace Darling. The children didn’t actually need much reminding though – they remembered so much. We were very impressed!
In Science, we designed and carried out an investigation to see if seeds can grow without soil. This is called hydroponics. You may see bags of seeds which have been placed around the classroom, some with soil, some without. We will wait eagerly to see what happens. If you have a chance, try to plant your own seeds in a pot or in the garden and see how they germinate and grow.
It has been a great week Year 2. Well done!
Have a lovely weekend
