Everchanging Earths

We’ve come to the end of another busy week here in Year 4, but we’ve had a spectacular finish with our careers day. Thank you so much to our parent volunteers Alexey and Neil for sharing some incredible examples of what their careers in data science and gaming quality management look like, we were all very invested! Thank you also to Apache for giving us a look into how careers in coding and digital art can create games and apps!

In English this week, we have mainly focused on our stories inspired by The Ever-Changing Earth, creating a thematic story that saw children worldwide witnessing pollution and climate change in a very emotional style. We are proud of how invested the children have been in this work.

In Maths this week we have been continuing our work on negative numbers, getting the chance to look at real-world examples and questions that go below 0, such as weather and sports scores.

We have started our still life topic in art this week! The children started by looking at some of the art of French painter Paul Cezanne and considered what features they noticed, before warming up their own ability to draw fruit with a gestural drawing exercise that focused on creating shapes, and gradually adding detail with other colours. Here are some of our results!

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and will see those of you attending the Summer School Fair tomorrow! – Year 4 Team
