Year 6 had a brilliant time visiting Wagamamas in town this week. We were warmly welcomed with goodie bags and smiley faces from the staff. All children got to participate in different challenges and activities: making and drinking their own healthy juices; identifying and tasting a large variety of key ingredients; weighing out and preparing a small recipe to be cooked on the grill. I think we can all agree that we didn’t need our lunch when we got back to school!
And that wasn’t the only food we tasted! On Thursday, we had a curry tasting! Along with a piece of naan bread, the children sampled a range of vegetarian curries; a homemade chickpea curry, kindly made by Mrs Cheru; a Bombay Aloo from M&S and finally a black daal from Infuse Indian Bistro in town. Children discussed the smell, taste and texture and then marked the curries out of 5. We worked out the mean to see which was the favourite.
Careers Day was a great success and Year 6 really enjoyed the talks from a clinical psychologist and a music industry post-graduate. We also heard from a 3D artist, who creates digital models and animations using computers! Following this, we tested some games and gave some useful feedback.
Play practice continues and from next week, we will be including props and eventually costumes. Wish us luck!
Enjoy the summer fair and have a great weekend.
