This week, we were lucky to attend a Year 4 sporting event hosted by St Albans School. Many different Year 4 Classes from across St Albans attended, and we were lucky to get to try lots of different sports like kick rounders, tag rugby and a variety of exciting obstacle courses. The children did a great job handling the heat given how hot it was, and a lot of fun was had!
In English this week, Year 4 have been working on informal techniques to help them write a ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ style guide to lessons in Year 4. Lots of exaggeration has been heard such as studying ‘an eternity of maths’, or ‘times tables burning a hole in our souls’!
In maths we have worked on defining the different types of triangles, and noting when a triangle may share traits with another by making venn diagrams. We have just started on coordinates, and will be translating shapes next week.
In Science, the children were Planet Protectors, and started to look at the positive impact humans can have on animal habitats. We had some awesome plans to save birds, bees, frogs and more with planting trees, reducing pollution or creating protected areas!
Finally, the children have continued studying still life in art, and this week focused on textures. We have been working from some fruit and vegetables up close to create pastel recreations of what they look like inside.
Reports will have been sent to you today, and we hope they provide detailed ideas of how the children’s years have been. Have a lovely weekend! – Year 4 team.
