Another fabulous week in Year 2, full of creativity and learning. The children are showing independence, collaboration and are taking responsibility for developing their ideas and inspiring each other.
We have embraced our History topic of ‘Castles’ and have demonstrated our learning in so many different ways. Some children are designing, building and labelling models in the small world area while others are making and writing fact books in the writing area. We have labelled castles drawn on whiteboards and Lego models with battlements and draw bridges being created in the construction area. The buzz of creativity in the classroom is infectious!
We have been working on our paper joining skills in our workshop area and created a portrait using loops, pleats, curls, rolls, fringes and flanges.
Our Super Learners board is filling up as work and ideas are celebrated. Some of the things we are looking out for in our Super Learners are: concentrating, improving ideas, being curious, solving problems, challenging themselves and persevering. Are you a Super Learner?
Homework: Homework books are being sent home in bags this weekend (purple A4 books). Each week homework will be set on Fridays and completed and returned by the following Thursday. The half term’s tasks (one a week) have been stuck in the front of the book.
Reading books: Please read with your child every night. When you have read the book 3 times, please leave it in the box ready to be changed for a new one. Your child’s reading book should be brought into school everyday and left in their bag (unless it needs changing), so that it is available should an adult ask them to read.
P.E. Our PE days are Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on these days.
