This week we have been busy writing our descriptive letters about the discovery of an ancient Egyptian artefact. Everyone has worked really hard to include adjectives and prepositions to describe their artefact.
In maths we have been working on estimating numbers on a number line and rounding to the nearest 10. We have set up a TTRS battle this week between Saffron and Gold! We hope you all get plenty of practise!
In science, we have been learning more about solids, liquids and gases and their properties. We investigated whether certain materials were solids or liquids or gases or a combination. We looked at oobleck (cornflour and water) and shaving foam and tried to work out why these substances behaved the way they do. It’s a great experiment to try at home and discuss together.
In history we have started looking at the importance of the River Nile in Egypt. We used our geography mapwork skills to label a map and looked at the wider landscape of Egypt. We noticed that the only green areas are along the banks of the Nile itself. Everywhere else is desert.
Gold class have started an art project with the help of Mrs Faulds from St Albans School and some 6th form students. They will be working on a 3D piece of tasty looking art – ice creams. Gold class will be working on this for this half term and Saffron will start after the half term holiday. They will need to bring an old shirt to help protect their uniforms as they may be using acrylic paint later on in the project. Saffron will be working on a story through pictures for their art this half term.
We hope you have an enjoyable weekend.
