This week we have enjoyed a workshop for our Digital Innovation Week. Year 4 used Intelino trains which can be programmed to follow commands using different coloured tiles. They had to work out what commands different combinations of coloured tiles could do before creating a series of different commands around a track which would speed up or slow down the train, stop, disconnect it from its wagon and reverse.
In English this week, we have been looking at a new text called The Story of Tutankhamun by Patricia Cleveland-Peck. We have used the text to find out about Tutankhamun’s family and to research Ancient Egyptian lifestyle. We will be using our research next week in a non-chronological report.
In maths we have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. We have been learning the rule ‘5 to the sky, 4 to the floor’ to help us.
In science we have observed the changes from a liquid changing to a solid through freezing. We made ice lollies using fruit squash which we have all enjoyed.
In history we looked at why the River Nile was so important to Egyptians. We have found out that without it, they would not have been able to build the civilisation that they did. It even had its own God – Hapi!
In music we were listening to the music of John Williams from Star Wars and Harry Potter. We learnt the difference between pulse and rhythm and tapped these out using the claves.
