How much do you know about the Ancient Egyptians?

This week we have been working really hard on our non-chronological reports about Ancient Egyptian lifestyles. Following on from our research last week, we have put together our own paragraphs on topics such as beliefs, sport and pets. We used research questions as our subheadings and tried to use precise language.

In maths, we have been practising our 6 times table  and working on our mental calculation skills. We have used think 10/100/1000 to calculate addition calculations, using the method to make it easier. Most of us  have named it the ‘potato’ method, because the shape we drew around the numbers looks like a potato, although another group have insisted it looks more like an avocado! Personally, I’m on Team Potato!!

In science, we practised using equipment, specifically using a thermometer to measure the temperature of the air and water in different places. We had to look really carefully to get the most accurate reading.

In art, Saffron class were creating an atmosphere in different settings using charcoal. We recapped our work from Year 3 in using charcoal to create different effects for our scenes such as a stormy sea, a calm sea, a bleak forest and a thunderous sky.

Gold class have started to create the top of their ice cream using masking tape and card. It took a lot of skill and patience to create the right shape, but they will look delicious when done!

We hope you have an enjoyable weekend.
