SATs, Spellings and Substances

As you’ve probably heard, we had a go at some SATs questions this week, completing a set of past papers.  We have started early in order to identify particular areas of focus for the coming months.  We find that it is also a way to prepare the children for May so they have a good idea of what it will be like.  Now that those are out of the way, we will be back to our usual lessons and are looking forward to starting a new book – Rain Player – which will be the focus of our English lessons for the rest of the term.

In English, we have been putting together our informative leaflets about harmful substances.  Using the information that we have learnt in PSHE, the leaflets contain lots of facts, in eye-catching format, about the potential risks and dangers that alcohol, smoking and solvents can have on the body.

In art, we are putting together our projects about identity.  We are taking inspiration from an artist called Mike Barrett, who favours a layering technique.  Next week, we will look to add the final layers and some hidden messages about ourselves.  We look forward to displaying the final pieces in the coming weeks.
